First of all, thank you so very much, and may Allah bless you with ample reward, both here and hereafter, for the very hard work you put in in sharing the Word of Allah for the Ummah’s consumption. Making some of the world’s greatest reciters of the Glorious Quran readily accessible online is indeed one great contribution to the Ummah. We must not forget, either, to make du’a (prayers) for Allah’s blessings and guidance, both for ourselves and for the creators of the platforms, such as YouTube and other digital platforms, upon which the sharing of the Deen is made easy.
However…
Whereas it is understandable that YouTube does as well provide an opportunity for the generation of income through your videos, uploaders of the Glorious Quran ought to be very careful what ads they allow to run on the videos they share, if any. Primarily, The Quran is to be listened to with reverence as well as to imbibe its Divine message. Many of us, in addition, like to listen to it while enjoying its remarkable poetic beauty, especially when this is being done by our individual favorite reciters.
The best thing, of course, would be to upload Quranic videos completely free of ads – for the respect of The Words of Allah and purely for the reward you shall receive from Him. Unfortunately, however, some of these videos now come with ads on them that sometimes interrupt the recitation, with some of the ads embedded within the video, sometimes right in the middle of a verse. It is one thing, if there must be ads, to have them in the beginning of the video, before the start of the recitation; but to have them interrupt the recitation within and between aayaats is rather irreverential to The Divine Words, to say the least, don’t you think?
To make matters worse, some of the videos are sometimes interrupted by some of the very things that are explicitly forbidden in the Quran. How terribly ironic, if not blasphemous!
There is an option to disable ads on videos, I think, aren’t there?
Imagine you are listening to the Quran, and all of a sudden, while you are in the middle of a verse, an ad to some alcoholic beverage comes up? And not only that, some of the ads are accompanied by music as well as images of ladies very objectionably dressed – ON A QURANIC VIDEO – like, subhaanAllah! I do not at all mean to sound all CAPS like, but I am sure you’d understand.
I would urge, simply as a naseeha (well meaning recommendation), all Quranic uploaders to please do so completely free of ads, and do it solely for the sake of Allah, for the sake of sharing good, and for the reward He shall give you for sharing such good. And when you upload your videos, please specify in the title or description section, that your video is ad-free.
As for viewers and listeners, if you discover any Quranic video that has ads in it, please try to privately contact the uploader and advice them to remove the ads. If not, leave a comment indicating the presence of ads in the video for the benefit of others, in shaa Allah.
